Agenda Announced for RoboUniverse New York 2016: Internet of Things, Drones, and More

Happy March! I’m a bit surprised at just how excited I was when I got up today and remembered that it was no longer February. March, to me, has always marked the beginning of spring; even though the official start of spring doesn’t come until near the end of the month, in my mind it happens as soon as I can tear off the February page of my calendar. So happy unofficial spring, everyone! What the beginning of March also means is that the next Inside 3D Printing Conference & Expo and RoboUniverse Conference & Expo in New York are coming up very fast. Next month, in fact – April 10-12 for 3D Printing, and April 11-12 for RoboUniverse.

Rising Media, Inc., which bought RoboUniverse in January, has released details for the upcoming conference – the first since the event was purchased from the now-liquidated MecklerMedia. Taking place at the Javits Convention Center, the upcoming conference will focus on four main themes: Cognitive Science & IoT, Drones for Business, Manufacturing & Logistics, and Robots for Enterprise. Session topics will include:

  • The Neurobiotics Connection: Connecting the Physcial World to Our Human Brain
  • Women in Frontier Technology
  • Robots as a Service (RaaS)
  • AI, Robotics, and Drones — The Real Story on the Future of Jobs
  • Investing in Robotics, Drones, and Related Software

“The meaning of the word ‘Robot’ is being redefined, and it is redefining our lives. It no longer includes just the market for Industrial Robotics, but also the financially expanding frontier of related technologies,” said Fran Rabuck, Conference Chairman for RoboUniverse. “In addition to Industrial Robotics, RoboUniverse will also be covering the key trends in co-operative robotics (co-bots), flying robots (drones), sensors, and the cognitive sciences (AI). All of this disruptive technology will include applications across diverse industries like manufacturing, healthcare, services, construction, education, disaster response, environmental sensing, and more. RoboUniverse is the only all-in-one conference merging all these trends into one event of top notch speakers and exhibits.”

Don’t forget that RoboUniverse and Inside 3D Printing will also co-host the Frontier Tech Showdown, which combines the former Inside 3D Printing and RoboGameChanger startup competitions into one contest on April 12. The winning startup will receive a $15,000 Uncapped SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity) from venture capital firm Asimov Ventures. All startups from the fields of 3D printing, robotics and virtual reality are invited to apply before March 11; further details can be found here.

Keynote speakers for RoboUniverse New York include Nisa Amoils, a member of seed investment organization New York Angels and co-chair of the Frontier Tech committee; Carol Rieg, STEM innovation leader and founder of public relations firm Rieg and Associates; and Melonee Wise, CEO of Fetch Robotics. You can see a full list of the speakers signed on at this time here. There will also be a vast array of exhibitors from the robotics field, so if you’re interested in attending, register now – early bird pricing, which is discounted up to $200, ends on March 4.
