Sintavia Adds 3D Printers from TRUMPF and EOS to Florida Manufacturing Facility Floor

Tier One metal 3D printing service provider Sintavia, one of the global leaders for independent metal AM for critical industries like aerospace and defense, automotive, and ground power generation, was launched in 2015, and is the first independent manufacturer of its kind to offer an end-to-end, vertically integrated metal AM production process. The Florida-based company is committed to high standards, holding NADCAP approval and being one of the first aerospace manufacturing companies to achieve AS9100 REV D certification; it’s also the first company ever to receive approval to 3D print production parts for Honeywell Aerospace.

Last spring, Sintavia announced its plans to build a new, $15 million advanced manufacturing facility in Hollywood, Florida that will expand its current production capacity by four times. The company broke ground in December, and the facility, which should be completed later this year, will serve as the company’s new headquarters.

The facility will house over $20 million worth of new machinery and equipment, including an enhanced post-processing footprint, an inert gas farm, an uninterruptible power supply, an automated powder handling system, and plenty of large 3D printers. All of this allows the company to optimize parameters, serially manufacture, and audit quality parts for critical industries.

While the doors are not yet open, Sintavia currently has seven 3D printers in its South Florida manufacturing facility, including two SLM Solutions 280HL twin laser printers and a 280HL single laser printer, a Concept Laser M2 laser printer, an Arcam Q20plus electron beam printer, and EOS M400-1 and M290 laser printers. But now, the company is adding two more, which brings the total up to nine.

Today, Sintavia announced that it has added two additional 3D printers to its already expansive in-house collection: a large-scale EOS M400-4, which has four lasers for faster production speeds, and a TRUMPF TruPrint 3000, which will be the first machine of its kind located in North America.

“These two additional machines significantly increase our production capacity and will reduce lead times for our customers. Our customers rely on our high quality, cost-effective metal AM production for aerospace and other precision industries. Having nine machines in our vertically integrated, advanced manufacturing facility speeds up turnaround times which is immensely important to our customers,” said Sintavia’s President Doug Hedges.

In September, Sintavia entered into a strategic alignment with TRUMPF to work on machine qualifications for aerospace applications, so it makes sense that a TRUMPF 3D printer would make its first home in the US at Sintavia’s new facility.

Later this year, Sintavia plans to add an additional 3D printer to its new manufacturing facility – another EOS M400-4. This will more than double its current equipment capacity to over 20 total machines in 2019 once the company moves into the new facility.
