HP has welcomed Sculpteo into the future of their 3D ecosystem. This pairing, featuring one of the heavy hitters in the electronics industry, along with one of the most lauded and cutting edge 3D printing service bureaus, gives users even more to look forward to as HP bridges the gap between digital and physical in the most literal sense.
The companies have just announced a partnership that forges a direct line between the two for users as 3D scans can now be uploaded from the Sprout platform and sent straight to the 3D printing service bureau provided by Sculpteo.
A growing number of users are purchasing their own 3D printers, with numbers up exponentially, to the tune of a 114% increase in year-to-year numbers from 2014, as we recently reported. And while many designers may already have the equipment on their desktops, for those who don’t–or for those who need outside help with some 3D printing projects, HP and Sculpteo will have them fully covered.
Let’s face it–within the industry right now, the offerings between HP and Sculpteo are pretty amazing. The Sprout offers users an incredibly easy way to streamline capturing and scanning of images on a comprehensive PC, coupled with user-friendly software for manipulating them easily into the desired 3D printing content.

“This is exciting for Sculpteo to take part in history and to be at the forefront of 3D capable computing for creatives and have our company lead the way as a trailblazer in the second industrial revolution. This is a watershed moment for our company as well as the 3D printing industry as a whole,” said Clément Moreau, CEO of Sculpteo.
Sculpteo, based in Paris, but with headquarters also in San Francisco, has been on our radar for quite some time as they’ve moved further and further up into the highest echelons of the 3D printing industry due to their commitment in seeing that users on every level are able to complete whatever 3D printing projects they require. Founded in 2009 by Eric Carreel and Clément Moreau, the 3D printing service offers 45 materials, colors, and finishes, plus superior file analysis and repair–with speedy service and products shipped globally.
From the complexities of developing their own API so that serious users can connect their own software to Sculpteo, in addition to using their superior 3D printing services, apps, and participating in their community and marketplace, which offer myriad options, Sculpteo also keeps users up to date on an informational level. Recently, they did so in great detail with their ‘State of 3D Printing’ report which gave survey results on a wide range of questions, as well as tackling other simple but obvious topics like whether or not one should actually bother with buying a 3D printer when they can just send it out to a company like Sculpteo instead.
Chosen as the “Best of Innovation” at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in 2013, Sculpteo has certainly risen to meet the title and then some–along with receiving €5 million in funding from European investment capitalists earlier this year. So, it’s safe to say they are not only up to the standards of industry titan HP, but were indeed a logical choice for the 3D printing service partnership.
